FYI: rain dance worked, somewhat.
You know how they say that when it rains it pours? While that’s not exactly what the weather’s adhering to just yet, it’s totally what’s happening with how many epic events are currently in the works around town—and advertised in this edition of the Banksia Bulletin! You’ll notice the flyers are *mostly* on the right hand side pages which makes it very easy for you to rip them out and whack them on your fridge. Yes, you have permission (just this month) to pull apart your beloved Banksia Bulletin—so long as you also read the valued contributions from our advertisers on the other side of each page too, as always. For a specific age range of our youth, we’ve got Sabine McKenzie (nee Fleitmann) from Core Confidence and Terry Melrose from Regional Men’s Health Initiative coming to deliver a couple of workshops, on Friday 12th July. Thanks to generous local support from Quairading CWA and Rotary Club of Quairading we’re able to offer this at the very affordable price of $10 each—young timers from surrounding towns (and beyond) are all more than welcome to register and come along. The sessions will finish with lunch, making it an excellent catch up opportunity for anyone home for the holidays! Coming up quicker than a jockey flashing past the winning post is the annual Quairading Ag Show (page 29) and the biennial Quairading Curtain Raisers production (page 31). Between then and now are a couple of new one-off events too—check them out on pages 17, 25 and 27! Lastly I’d like to give a quick shout out to the team—that is staff, board members and volunteers—of the Quairading Co-op. They’ve been pouring blood, sweat and tears into our brilliant local store over the last few months all with the aim of creating an even better shopping experience for us all—for years to come. There are too many heart breaking stories from other regional town who have lost their local supermarket (for a myriad of reasons) so I think we’re incredibly lucky that we’ve got such a proactive and keen co-operative here in Quairading. It makes me a very happy shareholder, community member and customer—I hope it does you too. Oh PS. It’s birthday month. Jill Hayes Editor, Banksia Bulletin Coordinator, Quairading CRC
