Banksia Bulletin Editorial August 2016

Holy guacamole, it can nart be nearly August! August is so conspicuous, it always seems so far away from July, then BAM it’s here.

August is great for the over fifties, you just take a holiday! If you’re not so lucky, hopefully it’s a few weeks to catch up on all the things you should have been doing while you were too busy complaining about how cold July was, before things ramp right up again in September and October.

July was pretty kind to me. I picked up a pretty penny or two (thank you Quairading Football Club and all your brilliant supporters), I picked up a further few pennies (thank you Worm Burner, you delicious sheep) and I had a birthday!

There were lots of other good things going on too—the CRC ran a great ‘Satdy Arvo Croppy’ event, one initiative we’re looking at expanding in the future (can someone please fix the double decker bus?!).  Our Women in Ag day on the 30th June was a roaring success, we’re still feeling warm and fuzzy from all the great feedback cards.

Your mailboxes have been bombarded this week with a nice little letter and a couple of forms from us. We’re doing a Membership Drive, teamed with a call for Phone Book updates! Be sure to fill in a pink phone book form (there’s a white version at the back of this BB) if you need to update or add your details. If you’re not sure, do it anyway - we’d much prefer to receive your details twice than not at all. Please help us spread the word about the update, and make sure you get to the Quairading Ag Show on Saturday 8th October to pick up a copy of the new edition of the Phone Book!

Quick congrats to our pocket-rocket trainee, Taneika Jefferies on completing Quairading’s entry in the Banners in the Terrace competition all by herself. If you’re in Perth over the next week, take a cruise down St George’s Terrace and see if you can spot it hanging proudly on pole number 50! Thanks to CDO Cheryl and the Shire for supporting the activity.

Alright, that’s enough out of me. See ya.
