I know you’re all absolutely hanging out for Christmas (because you just don’t know what to do with all this spare time you have on your hands) and if you pop into the Quairading CRC you’ll be delighted to see a Christmas countdown and the start of our festive decorations! I’ll apologise for the melt downs we’ve seen this cause over the past week, but I won’t apologise for being super excited for the silly season!
I’m stoked to be able to write to you all again this month from the Editor’s chair, last month as a fill in and now suddenly as the new permanent Editor of the Banksia Bulletin and Coordinator of the Quairading CRC. Please feel free to come and have a chat, give me a call or flick me an email with feedback or ideas you have for the CRC, in particular how we communicate and advertise all of the important goings on around town! October was a monster! There were NAIDOC Day celebrations, the 95th Quairading Show (with record numbers through the gate), Ladies Day at the CRC with more stall holders than ever before and a delightful Beyond Gardens Sunday Brunch. We farewelled Julie in style with an after work Sundowner, and we welcomed five brand new Shire Councillors - congrats to you all. Amongst all this, Curtain Raisers have been singing their hearts out, dancing their feet off and dropping in and out of some ripper accents with the production of Rockin’ Robin. The show has been incredibly well received by locals and visitors alike and is a guaranteed laugh (please excuse my potentially biased opinion!). The final night is sold out but tickets are still available for this Friday 30th October! One last small piece of housekeeping before I leave you to peruse these pages at your leisure. If you haven’t done so already, please update us in your email address books. The only email address we use is [email protected] Good luck to those eager farmers trying to start harvest - may the rain hold off, the crops soon stop being “too green and tough” and all road users be considerate and cautious when passing those trucks full of precious cargo. 56 sleeps and counting…. Jill Hayes Editor | Banksia Bulletin Coordinator | Quairading CRC It gives me much pleasure on behalf of the Management Committee of the Quairading Community Resource Centre Inc. to let you know of our new staffing arrangements in the wake of Julie’s retirement from the position of Manager at the CRC.
Jill Hayes has taken on the new position of Coordinator three days a week, Tarnya Fowler is our Finance Officer – also three days a week, Sharon Richards has become our Accounts Officer during her two days a week and Robyn Richards continues as Administration Officer one day a week. And last, but by no means least, our fabulous full time trainee, Maddy Johnston continues her reception duties amongst two half days of study time. As you can imagine, after 17 years of time at the CRC Julie’s experience and local knowledge may be missed, but I’m confident that with the succession planning we’ve done and the team we have in place, that you will hardly notice a hiccup. Of course, if you do, please don’t hesitate to talk to Jill as Coordinator or myself as Chair of the Management Committee - we both love a good chat! Beware – changes may occur where you least expect them – I’m not sure what, where or when, but it is a risk you take when new blood is transfused into any business, group or organisation. I’m excited about the way forward and I hope you will all continue to support and enjoy what we do at the Quairading Community Resource Centre. Kind regards, Jo Hayes Chairperson | Management Committee |
