If you’re reading this, then that means that I’ve left the country!
I bloomin’ love Quairading but I’m mad keen for a vacay and some southern Cali sun! There’s not a chance you will miss me, with the abundance of local activities (and wildflowers!) to keep you occupied. I hope you take some inspo from the pretty snaps on the cover of this Banksia Bulletin to get your walking shoes on and get out to the Nature Reserve! Perhaps you’d like to call past the CRC or Railway Station Info Centre to pick up a walk trail map and a local bird book? I encourage you all to get down to the Town Hall on Thursday 29th September for a FREE screening of the Australian doco, ‘Embrace’. The movie is in theatres across the world, right now, and it is thanks to pure and incredible generosity from one local lady that you’re able to see it in little old Quairading town, for free. Bring your own refreshments and nibbles. While the event is FREE if you need it to be, donations towards the costs of the screening will be greatly appreciated on the night. Check out the flyer on page 13. We’re partnering up with WA Farmers to put on a ‘Farmer’s Sundowner’ on Thursday 13th October from 5:30pm at the Quairading CRC. The evening will include presentations from the Bureau of Meteorology, Main Roads and IOJ Aerial Photography and of course a couple of complimentary brewskis and some finger food. Register your interest with the CRC so we can cater sufficiently. I hope you found a chance to pop into the Art Centre at the CRC to check out the Creative Arts Society’s Exhibition this week. The ever so humble 2016 Feature Artist, Rissole Stacey has done a brilliant job welding up all sorts of creations, and encouraging heaps of local closet ‘artists’ to drag their rusty masterpieces out of the shed and into the gallery. As we go to print, the Quairading Ag Show will only be 16 sleeps away! Eek! The Ag Society have been working so dang hard to make this year’s show really appeal to everyone. Our locals are arguably the most important patrons and we’re looking forward to seeing our regular show-goers and a few familiar faces return to the show grounds on October 8. Give pages 24—29 a squiz and get excited! Thank you SO much to all our contributors for cooperating beautifully with the out-of-the-ordinary early deadline this month, you’ve surprised and delighted us! HOLIDAY TIME!!
