Hello there, valued Banksia Bulletin reader!
We hope this September 2015 edition of the Banksia Bulletin finds you well (and not still battling a pesky winter cold)! We’ve been slowly working our way back into including something ‘from the Editor’ in each edition of the Banksia Bulletin over the past few months. We love any chance to tell you all (see: brag) about what’s been going on and coming up at the Community Resource Centre and all around Quairading. We’d like to kick off this month by announcing the retirement of our long time Manager, Julie Bavin. Julie has been with the Quairading CRC since its early days as the ‘Telecentre’ and has been an incredible asset and pool of local knowledge over the last seventeen years. We wish Julie health and happiness in retirement, whilst we are also blindly enthused for whatever the future brings our Community Resource Centre and community alike. We also invite you all to join us on Julie’s final official day for a drink and nibble and a reminisce - check out all the details on page 13. Our ‘cover story’ this month is the Quairading Show! Speedily approaching, the show will be held on Saturday 10th October and you’ll find all the latest, including a fun interview article with Ag Society ‘Prez’ Noel Stone on pages 16 and 17. With a flurry of events, workshops and general activity in the CRC in recent months, we’ve been looking forward to some ‘quiet time’. However, we’ve quickly realised that maybe there’s no such thing - and that’s a good great thing! These pages are filled with upcoming event flyers, such as Ladies Day (Page 7) and the Curtain Raisers production of Rockin’ Robin (Page 15) as well as wrap ups and reports a’plenty from winter sports, recent events and more. Quairading has seen its fair share of solemn times in recent weeks, but if there’s one positive we can all take away from this, it’s appreciating the incredible support and love our little community of Quairading so often and so generously provides. Enjoy this beautiful spring weather and look positively forward as the crops ripen, the flowers bloom and the roadworks progress! Happy October!
